Cats: MacMakeup Blog|The Story Behind the List
This comprehensive list of MAC eye shadow combinations started in 2004 by “beaniewienie†of MUA. It all began when she first noticed MAC at her local Macy’s in Cincinnati. The fabulous colors and variety of products were something Brenda believed she had to collect! For her own use, Brenda began keeping a list of eye shadow combinations she loved from FOTDs or combinations others mentioned that she liked. In January of 2006, she decided to put the list in an easily accessible place. Four months later, the list you have below was ready for the world to see! As mentioned, the list was originally put together for her own use, which is why individuals are not credited for their work. However, if you notice your own combination, please feel free to let us know, and we’ll credit you properly! Thank you to EVERYONE who has ever posted an FOTD, as you are part of what makes this list what it is! If you’d like to contact Brenda, you can do so here.
How the Combinations are Arranged
The original two lists have been combined to form one major list. Combinations are listed alphabetically under the main colors used. There are not listings under a lot of basic shades, like Shroom or Ricepaper, but if you are looking for them, just do a search (CTRL + F) & you can find them. So, a combination that used Cranberry, Trax, Shroom & Amber Lights will be listed under the “As,†“Ts,†& “Cs†under Amber Lights, Trax & Cranberry, but not Shroom. Colors which have been released under two separate names (i.e. Almond Icing/Sea Myth or Parrot/Kicky Blue) are listed under the main color. Any extra information that doesn’t fit anywhere else is at the end under “Miscellaneous.â€
When you see mistakes, misspellings, or duplications, please point them out, and they will be fixed on the next update. Also, feel free to submit your own combinations! The more the merrier! Contact us here to submit any corrections/suggestions or combinations!
